Global Shapers Austin planned a happy hour to kick off the week of South By Southwest (or, SXSW), an Austin event with over 75,000 attendees from all over the world on topics of music, film, education, technology, and more. Our event was hosted at a Shaper's apartment clubhouse that overlooked the city skyline, offering pizza, snacks, and beverages to visiting Shapers.
This served as an exclusive event for under 20 registered attendees, and was an intimate welcome for Shaper guests to the city, a great time to get any questions answered about SXSW, be able to share and collaborate about Hub projects... and talk about the best barbecue in Austin!
After the event, Austin Shapers and visiting Shapers alike, reconnected several times over the course of the event at conference sessions, private startup parties, art gatherings-- and even afterward at World Economic Forum events in other cities!
Pictured below, Clara Tsao, Global Shaper from the DC hub and President of the Presidential Innovation Fellows Foundation had a SXSW session "Civic Tech in the Service of the American People".
Liv Hadden, Global Shaper from our Austin Hub and author and owner of The Offbeat Writer and of Self Aware Millennial, showcased her booth at the SXSW Health Expo.
Another Global Shaper Austin, Riley Blanks, hosted a panel discussion "An Intimate Discussion with Celebrated Austin Women".
We were so happy to have Shapers from several hubs around the world in town such as: Leon, San Francisco, DC, Dubai, London, and more.
